Biographie Frechette Octave

BOOK - HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE PARISH IMMACULATE CONCEPTION BY JOHANNA M. O'LEARY, PUB. IN 1938. Octave Frechette came from Canada in the late 60s and married Mary Duchene, daughter of a pioneer Belgian farmer who had pre-empted a claim near French Lake in 1856. Mrs. Frechette died in early womanhood, leaving four small children: Alice (later Mrs. Charles Boucher), Edward now a well known instructor at the Minnesota School for the Deaf, and Sophronie, (later Mrs. Dan Piper). Later Mr. Frechette married Angeline Champagne. Mr. Frechette died in 1917 and Mrs. Frechette in 1935. Edward Frechette brother of the above came from Canada and married Eloda Duchene, sister of his brother's wife. They had eight sons: Edmond, Octave, Alexander, Oliver, Ferdinand, Fred, Albert and Louis, and one daughter Mary (Mrs. Barrett). Mr. Frechette died quite suddenly April 23, 1935. Mrs. Frechette survives (1937).

MR. OCTAVE FRECHETTE, 84 YEARS OLD, DIED ON SUNDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 7, AT HIS FARM HOME IN THE TOWN OF WELLS, DEATH BEING CAUSED BY CANCER OF THE BOWELS. DECEASED HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF RICE COUNTY FOR THE PAST FIFTY YEARS. HE WAS BORN IN CANADA JANUARY 18, 1843, AND CAME TO MINNESOTA ABOUT FIFTY YEARS AGO AND SETTLED IN THE TOWN OF WELLS, WHERE HE HAS SINCE RESIDED. HE WAS MARRIED TO MISS MARY DUCHENE, SHORTLY AFTER COMING TO THIS COUNTY AND FOUR CHILDREN WERE BORN TO THIS UNION. ABOUT 35 YEARS AGO HIS WIFE DIED AND FIVE YEARS LATER HE MARRIED ANGELINE CHAMPAGNE, WHO SURVIVES HER HUSBAND. HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY HIS FOUR CHILDREN: ANDREW FRECHETTE, OF FOREST TOWNSHIP; MRS. CHARLES BUSBEY, OF FARIBAULT; EDWARD FRECHETTE, OF FARIBAULT, AND MRS. DAN PIPER, OF CANNON CITY TOWNSHIP, AND BY THREE SISTERS AND THREE BROTHER--MRS. FRANK WHITE, OF WESTFIELD, MONT.; MRS. O. PENEGOR, OF PLATO, MICH.; MRS. ELERIE KING, OF WELLS TOWNSHIP; BEN AND EDMUND FRECHETTE, OF FARIBAULT, AND LOUIS, OF FRENCH LAKE. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD TUESDAY MORNING FROM THE CHURCH OF THE SACRED HEART. REV. FATHER MONGE OFFICIATED. BURIAL WAS IN MAPLE LAWN CEMETERY. THE FOLLOWING WERE THE PALL BEARERS: T. J. McCARTHY, F. MILLER, THOMAS LaPORTE, RAPHAEL JUAIRE, FRANK MALLOY AND GEORGE ENGLAND.
