Anselme Napoleon "Samuel Joseph" Ruel, son of Anselme Ruel and Marie Therrien, was baptized on 15 Feb 1863 at St Ferdinand, Halifax, Megantic, Québec, Canada. He and his siblings were raised in St Julien, Wolfestown, Wolfe, Québec. His family immigrated to the United States in 1887 and settled in Biddeford, York, Maine, where he married Philomène Gouin about 1889. Samuel was widowed in 1941. He died in Biddeford on Monday, 26 Jan 1948 at age 84, having been a resident of Biddeford for more than sixty years. His survivors included two sons, Napoleon of Biddeford and Adelard of Southwick MA, and two daughters, Mrs Stanislas Babineau and Marie Ruel of Biddeford.
